Minister Laura A. Gillom is a native of Raymond in rural Hinds County, Mississippi. She was raised primarily by her grandmother and aunt who instilled in her the value of a relationship with Jesus Christ and a positive work ethic.

Minister Gillom is a graduate of Raymond High School. She has a bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Mississippi (Oxford, MS), a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi (Hattiesburg, MS), and a master's of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary (Memphis, TN). She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of social work. She will serve as a Community Educator, providing Character Education in schools, and speaking to church and civic organizations. She is providing therapy services through Compassion & Wellness Counseling, LLC.​
